We were concerned the typhoon might disrupt things, but there were two seats available on a large golf cart picking up guests, and it took us to the hotel. This was in August 2023, on my first trip to Xiamen via the “Mini Three Links,” the direct connection between Xiamen and Taiwan. It was scorching when we reached Gulangyu Island. The hotel was quite nice, and they had a room ready, so we checked in. We spent the following day at the Kempinski Hotel. Its commanding views and unmatched scenery gave us wonderful memories.
