The room was tiny, the carpet filthy, and after one walk the floor was covered with sand. The curtains were broken and the bed shook. I booked Judy's Hotel on Gulangyu Island through Booking.com for three nights at 1200 RMB a night, 3600 RMB in total, which is a month's salary for many people. Getting there took a long time, too. The booking was non-refundable, and I suspect the hotel owners wrote all the reviews themselves. The food was absolutely awful. It’s only the first day and we still have two days left, but I don’t want to stay here anymore. We traded our vacation for a stomach full of frustration. This is definitely the biggest disappointment on Gulangyu Island!
