I booked 「Xiamen Niaodao Seaview Boutique Stay」 online for my first visit to Xiamen, and the location was the biggest plus. Zhongshan Road pedestrian street is right next door, so it was easy to go out for food and shopping every day. The ferry terminal is across the road and within walking distance. For a daytime trip to Gulangyu Island, though, it’s less convenient: you need to travel to Dongdu Pier first, since you can’t take the boat directly from the ferry terminal. On the way back at night, you can go straight from Gulangyu Island to the ferry terminal and walk back to the hotel in under 10 minutes. The room was clean, with a separate shower and toilet area. I could see a little of the sea from the window, even though I hadn’t booked a sea-view room. It also had a large projection screen and Xiaodu voice controls for the lights and curtains. The front desk service was good, and the manager was very friendly and attentive when we had a room issue or needed something. It’s a good value for travelers who want easy transport and plan to spend the day out sightseeing. One extra perk: there’s a Pizza Hut on the 24th floor, with windows all around and sea views of Gulangyu and the pier. A nice place to have breakfast.

The room was clean, and getting around from this location was really convenient. There’s also a convenience store on the first floor. The service deserves a special mention: whenever we had questions, the counter staff helped us with things like getting a taxi or booking tickets, especially a young man surnamed Guo. Laundry and drying were easy to manage too. I’ll definitely come back if I get the chance to visit Xiamen again.

I’ll book this place again when I’m back. It’s easy to get around from here, and there’s a 24-hour convenience store downstairs. In the early morning it switches to self-service, so you scan a barcode to get in and check out. The lobby is on the 7th floor, where the friendly front desk staff offered welcome drinks and clearly explained the rooms, nearby sights, and transport. My room looked out over the sea, which I could enjoy from the bath.
