The location is the main downside for me. It’s in the International Convention Center and business district, well away from the main tourist spots, and the area around it doesn’t feel lively. Breakfast was pretty average too and could use more choice. Inside, though, the hotel looks sleek and modern. I’m not sure exactly when it opened, but it seems very new. My room was roomy and spotless, with smart controls for the lights, curtains, and even the shower.

Getting to XICEC was easy: just a few minutes in a DIDI, even with Stone Fair traffic, and the ride was quick and affordable. The hotel is close to the Convention Center but far enough away to avoid the worst of the gridlock by the exhibition halls. For business meetings there, that’s a real plus. My stay during the 2026 Stone Fair also showed that the hotel is still working through some service issues. It feels new, with sleek, well-equipped rooms, but the operation hasn’t caught up with the decor yet. To me it’s a solid 4-star stay with the potential to reach 5-star if service becomes more consistent. Breakfast was the biggest letdown. The restaurant felt too small for the number of guests, especially during the exhibition, and finding a seat was hard. It felt more like a hectic canteen than a calm hotel breakfast. Staff seemed overwhelmed, tables stayed covered with previous guests’ dishes, and getting coffee or water topped up took patience. The choices were limited and leaned heavily on Chinese staples like congee, noodles, and steamed buns. If a clean, new room and a short ride to meetings are what you need, this Novotel is a good fit. For a quieter breakfast with more variety, try going before 7:30 AM or look for a nearby cafe.
