The Westin Xiamen

The swimming pool and gym are large, and the breakfast buffet is extensive. The restaurant staff are very friendly, and swiping your room key to check in for breakfast is a brilliant idea. I also found the prices for room service and the restaurants reasonable. I don’t speak Chinese, but everyone I dealt with spoke very good English. WiFi was decent and, best of all, worked with a VPN. The Guest Services team replied on Marriott Bonvoy chat faster than at any other hotel I’ve experienced. A few things were less convenient: with four elevators serving 40 floors, expect to wait, and my minibar fridge didn’t work. The club lounge had very little on offer, though its staff were kind. Personally, I preferred the Sheraton’s location, since there isn’t much shopping near Westin beyond a large RT Mart (mega mart) and some restaurants.

The hotel is in a good location, and the staff are nice and provide good service. Breakfast could use more options. Service at the lobby lounge was slow, and the staff weren’t attentive and forgot my order.

The views over the city are superb, especially from the upper floors and club lounge. This part of town is a bit short on things to do, but everything in Xiamen is just a taxi ride away, so it wasn’t a big problem. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and I consistently had great food and service at Qba. The breakfast buffet was large, though it never quite suited my taste. It was a very pleasant stay, and I’d come back again and again.

I liked the view from my room, and the place was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The room is compact but fine for one person. It’s within walking distance of a bus stop and easy to reach lots of tourist areas. Definitely worth trying a stay here.
