Xiamen Plaza Hotel

I've stayed here several times and would choose it again on my next trip to Xiamen. It's good value, with friendly, polite reception staff and helpful, attentive housekeeping. I couldn't figure out the Wi-Fi setup, so a housekeeper helped me get it working. The hotel is right in the heart of Xiamen, beside the train station, subway, and city bus stop, with an underground food street and a mall just by the entrance. It feels comparable to a hotel near Taipei Main Station in Taipei.

Security stopped us on the way to the elevator and questioned us as if we were criminals. Their attitude was appalling. At the counter, staff were extremely rude. We had booked and paid through Ctrip, but they said there was no booking information and told us to call and check ourselves. We eventually found the booking information on the counter table, but by then the room had been overbooked. I've never seen such poor service allowed to survive in the market.

The toilet and plumbing had numerous problems, and the facilities were outdated. Housekeeping staff weren't helpful either. It was incredibly frustrating.

There are lots of shops nearby, and it's convenient to go out. The hotel itself is okay, with average facilities.
