The breakfast was a mess, with people crowding around for a few boiled eggs and plain rice. Our room was tiny and had no window, like sleeping in a closet. Quite possibly the worst hotel in Xiamen. Save yourself the hassle and stay somewhere else.

It's confusing for foreigners. Head to lane 1 and ask as many questions as you can. Keep an eye on your luggage, too.

All sixteen of us managed to get our tickets and board the train to Shenzhen without any trouble, thanks to the help from the staff at Xiamen High-Speed Railway Station.
