Shaanxi Xinghewan Hotel

We only stayed a day, so didn't get to explore much, though the hotel has an indoor pool, volleyball court, and more. Its gardened atrium has a separate restaurant building with a pool in the middle. The hotel sits in a remote, developing part of town closer to the airport than Xi'an, with nothing to see within walking distance. The place is brand new, thoughtfully designed, beautiful, and extremely clean. Our room and bathroom were both large, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The only real drawback was that the AC wasn't on when we arrived, so the room was hot. There are two restaurants on site, plus a limited room service menu. The Chinese/Cantonese restaurant served good food with great service, and stayed open late when we arrived at 8:30, not realizing it closed at 9. It's gorgeous, with unusual traditional serving ware. Getting there from inside the hotel was a little confusing. The dining rooms have high ceilings and one table each, so at first we walked in and didn't see any tables. The Western style restaurant opens later and serves breakfast, a buffet with a strange mix of Chinese and Western food. My kids loved the freshly squeezed watermelon juice and egg custards baked in a machine there.
