Tumenjiang Business Hotel

The staff are friendly, but the amenities in the room are limited, and the service is disappointing. Cleaning just means taking out the trash and replacing toiletries. Nobody washes anything or wipes the dust. The TV menu is in Chinese, and you need the staff's help to work it, though the TV itself isn't bad. Everything else is basic, so it's really for unpretentious travelers on a short stay, three to six days at most.

The buffet is a strong point, with plenty of variety and enough food for everyone. The tobacco smell has almost disappeared as smokers have been discouraged, though the ashtrays by the elevators remain and are always empty. Tumangan Hotel in Hunchun is still managing thanks to Russian tourists, but the rooms need renovation, especially the flooring. Newer hotels are winning guests with their newness, though not with their prices.

Breakfast is reliably decent, with European food and good pastries. The rooms are clean, and the air conditioning works reliably, which matters. Tumangan Hotel is conveniently located parallel to the main Trade Street, just a stone's throw from places serving delicious food adapted for Russian tourists.

The walls and carpets are dirty, even with daily room cleaning, and the hotel feels very tired. Breakfast is okay if you arrive half an hour after it starts, once the most impatient guests have cleared out a bit. Food keeps being brought in.
