Gang Hui International Hotel

For a four-star place, it’s kept in good shape. I came for business and have found the counter staff around whenever needed. Their English is decent by local standards, and if English or Chinese is a struggle, they’re happy to help with a phone translator. The first-floor breakfast restaurant was closed when I first arrived because of COVID-19, but it has opened recently and I’ve been going often. Morning cleaning follows indoor protocols, with staff ringing or knocking if someone’s in the room. Every so often someone just walks in, though they explain and handle it kindly. Those staff members speak Chinese only. Smoking is the weak point. Although the rooms are meant to be non-smoking, there are ashtrays in the rooms, hallways, and by the elevators, and by evening the cigarette smell can be strong. The smoking rules don’t seem well managed. There’s parking, a spa and foot massage place on the fourth floor, and sofas in the first-floor lobby. A humidifying robot makes its rounds once in the morning or around lunchtime. As COVID-19 restrictions eased a little, the wedding hall got busy with people attending weddings.
