Street vendors selling things like grilled skewers appeared outside the hotel every night, and the air quality was terrible. Cigarette smell had also seeped into the rooms and bedding. This was the worst Marriott in Yantai for me: the service and rooms were awful, and they ignored Marriott policies. Staff answered in Chinese even when I asked in English, and sometimes didn't respond to English questions at all. They left out the Platinum welcome gift, then tried to shift the blame with lies. When I caught them and asked for compensation under the rules, they denied any such regulations and acted as if they didn't care.
