Lee's Boutique Resort

The AC was my one issue. It didn't work during days that were over 90 degrees, so I was glad I'd brought a small battery-powered fan after seeing the same thing mentioned in reviews. Otherwise, the staff were so welcoming. When floods shut the national park for a day, they helped me find other nearby things to do. The hotel and rooms have a charming feel, and the included breakfast is excellent. It's also easy to walk to restaurants and the park entrance.

There are lots of local restaurants, street food and produce vendors, plus a few clothing shops, all within a five-minute walk. The main food we found nearby was authentic Chinese food. Lee’s Boutique Resort sits on a quieter street, though talking, traffic and honking still carry inside because of the building's construction. Our Twin room had plenty of room for two people and our luggage. The mattresses seemed bigger than American twins, perhaps queen-sized, and were firm, with very soft linens and a heavy duvet. The in-room AC cooled things down quickly. The bathroom had a fancy toilet with a heated seat and a shower with great pressure. Both the shower and toilet doors are sliding glass with an opaque section in the middle, which could feel awkward if you're staying with someone you're not close to. We liked supporting a family business. The owner's son speaks English, and they also have a handheld translator that worked well. It seems a good fit for Western travelers who want a local hotel that still feels familiar.

The river view from the bed, and even from the bathroom, was lovely, and the room was really comfortable. Staff were very friendly. I think it may be family-run, though I'm not sure. It's just a block from the busy streets, near restaurants and shops, but the place itself was very quiet, with no neon lights shining in at night.

I found the hotel comfortable and very central, with all the amenities I needed and fairly close to the park entrance. The only issue during my stay was that nobody seemed to speak English.
