Tongda International Hotel

Bad and sad.

They shut off the air conditioning at 8 PM at this really crooked hotel. I told the staff three times, firmly, that it needed to stay on until 3 AM and asked them to turn it back on, but they ignored me completely. Can they not afford the electricity bill?

The room itself was great for a night's rest, even though the view wasn't much. The hotel is very nice, and our clean double room had two beds. It felt like a four-star hotel. Since it gets cold here, there's always a fluffy carpet. The toilet was spacious and very clean, which is a top priority for me when picking a hotel or guesthouse. There was also a hairdryer, shampoo, body wash, green and black tea, and a kettle. When you check in anywhere, it's a good idea to check the double items in the room so there aren't problems when you check out. Breakfast is free, but hotels here generally keep it very simple, and it may not taste good or suit everyone. Still, have some if it's included to get your energy back, then you can top up as you travel. Be open to trying something different while sightseeing.

The main drawback was how bad the breakfast was. The rest of the hotel was spacious, with a grand lobby, and the friendly staff helped carry our luggage to the rooms. There are so many rooms that it's easy to get turned around. It's conveniently next to Charming Xiangxi, and about a 15-20 minute walk from Zhangjiajie Scenic Area. We visited at Christmas, when the atmosphere was lovely. A choir sang Christmas Eve in the lobby, and there was a Christmas dinner with plenty of food, exciting programs, and even a raffle. The rooms were comfortable too.
