Zhangjiajie Jijiehao Inn

Stayed for three nights in Nov 2025. The host was the standout, really knowledgeable and helpful with tickets, tours, and pretty much anything. The free breakfast was great, especially the noodles; the sandwich was good too. The location is handy enough: Baofeng Lake is a 15-minute walk away, and it's around 35 minutes on foot to National Park East Gate and Wulingyuan Bus Terminal. The main road in Wulingyuan takes 10-15 minutes to reach. Dorms are cozy and have sockets, lights, Wi-Fi, towels, and a brush and toothpaste. The downstairs common area is roomy enough to meet travelers from around the world. The dorms are a little cramped, though not too bad, and the mattresses are hard, as they are in most of China, except Desti Hostels.

The beds are pretty firm, but the service alone makes the stay worthwhile. Our host was so friendly and helpful, and the advice made planning our outings much easier. It's well located, about a 5/10 min taxi ride to the park's east gate. I'd definitely recommend it.

The owner's energy and kindness made the stay special. She put a lot of effort into sorting out our itinerary and connecting us with travelers going to the same places, which gave the hostel a great communal feel. Her dedication to helping people enjoy Zhangjiajie really came through. We'd love to return, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting friendly hospitality and a social atmosphere.

The hostel was a big part of why Zhangjiajie became one of my top three stops on the whole trip. The bedrooms were great, the shower was brilliant, the beds comfortable, and there was air conditioning and heating. Breakfast noodles were a lovely start to the day. It also worked well as a base for the national park and the Grand Canyon. Tianmen Mountain is a bit farther away, but Emer arranged bus tickets for 20 yuan each way, much cheaper than a DiDi. If you're short on time, I'd put the national park and Grand Canyon ahead of the mountain. I came here after a couple of lonely days in Guilin hoping for somewhere social as a solo traveler, and immediately found both tables full of friendly European travelers. I made friends and spent the next few days exploring the national park and other places with them. Emer, the hostel manager, was one of the kindest people I've met. She planned each day's routes for me in careful detail, tailored to what suited me, and did that for every guest. Being vegetarian in China can be tricky, and she helped me order suitable food. She also makes great coffee.
