Holiday Inn Express Zhangye

The staff were friendly, and our room was reasonably clean and spacious. At the front desk, most people didn't know much about the city. One woman seemed to know a little more, but still gave us wrong information about the garatto caves. Breakfast was chaotic. The area was understaffed, and the staff were often on their phones or unsure what to do. The toaster kept being switched off, so each time we wanted toast we had to turn it on and wait a few minutes for it to heat. The coffee maker was often a problem too, either they didn't know how to change the filter or it had run out of water. There wasn't much variety in the Chinese food, and although there were some stale bread slices to toast, we always had to ask for jam because it wasn't left on the counter. Guests also took more food than they needed from the buffet and wasted it. This hotel doesn't accept credit cards from foreign countries, so bring Chinese Yuan cash or a debit card from a Chinese bank.
