Courtyard by Marriott Zhengzhou Airport

The hotel is a convenient 15-minute drive from the airport, though there isn't much to do within walking distance. We picked this courtyard hotel because we had a morning flight the next day, and despite staying only one night, I absolutely loved it. The property and rooms were new, modern, spacious, and clean, including the bathroom and amenities. The front desk and housekeeping staff were hospitable and helpful. Most hotel front desk staff in China speak only Mandarin, but the two people I dealt with here spoke English fluently and were very efficient. Breakfast had a great range of dishes. I especially enjoyed the tasty noodles, porridge, dim sum, and coffee. Everything made this short stay excellent. It would work well for leisure or business.

The hotel suited the purpose of my visit and is near the airport. It was pretty clean, and the room was clean too, though I got the sense a previous guest had smoked in it because there was a faint cigarette smell. The counter staff spoke acceptable English. The breakfast buffet was adequate, but the choices weren't to my taste. I was shocked to find rust stains when I opened the hot-water flask. See photos. That's not acceptable for an international chain hotel.

I'm a frequent visitor to China, and this is by far the best hotel I've stayed at here. The staff were incredibly hospitable and wouldn't take tips. I couldn't find a flaw. Kudos to the GM and staff. We were 11 Malaysians travelling together, all vegetarians. The cafe staff reminded us twice while serving that everything brought to our group was strictly vegetarian. Very impressive.

The gym is very good, and breakfast was tasty, but service wasn't so good. The lobby bar wasn't always available, and breakfast service wasn't available either. With about 100 guests at the same time, there was only one coffee machine. Almost nobody speaks English, and all the rooms smelled of cigarettes. The hotel is near the airport. Overall, the stay was OK.
