Atour Hotel (Zhongshan North Railway Station, V - Park Plaza)

The staff were lovely, and the service was excellent.

The room’s problems made it hard to sleep. The bed was extremely hard, the pillows were flat with no support, and the floor creaked whenever I walked. There was a big crack in the marble by the window. The toilet seat slanted to the right, so I had to hold the handrail each time I used it. The room was also close to the main road, and traffic was very loud at night. After checking out, my back hurt so much from the hard bed and lack of sleep that I couldn’t straighten up and had to buy painkillers. I complained about the toilet, and they offered to fix it or move me. The two rooms I looked at were almost the same, though, and both had dim lighting. I stayed for three nights and didn’t sleep at all on two of them. On the night of the 29th, at 11 pm, I ordered food through Meituan and only called the front desk to check whether it had arrived. The staff member spoke very loudly and rudely, saying that if I needed it urgently I should come collect it from the front desk myself. Another night, when I was taking the elevator out, two staff members tried to bring a mattress in. I was speechless. They pushed to get into the elevator even though other guests were there, and I also saw them drag the mattress along the floor. That seemed very unhygienic. I’ve stayed at Atour Hotels in Fujian and Shenzhen before and had good experiences, which is why I chose one in Zhongshan. This stay left me with a very poor impression of Atour Hotels, especially Zhongshan VPark Atour Hotel. Apart from Ann, Jiduo, and one more mature male staff member whose name I can’t remember, the staff seemed as if they were still in training. I booked through the hotel’s official WeChat account, and Ann was very patient with me, so I gave her five stars on the website. Those stars were for her patience. I’m sharing what happened in the hope that staff get more training and that the hotel pays attention to room issues that could cause accidents and fixes them promptly.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and the location is convenient. The rooms are spacious, the service attentive, and help was provided promptly.

The breakfast had a good selection, and the front desk staff were courteous.
