Plan on spending about 2-3 hours here. The site is very large, with around two buildings to explore, and only a few dinosaurs outside. One building is like a museum combined with the archaeological excavation site where the fossils were found. It has no elevator, so it isn't suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. The other building is more interactive, with short 3D clips and up to three stories to walk through. Afterward, there's a short walk up a hill, and the area also includes a contemporary art exhibition featuring dinosaurs. It's very informative if you're interested in the Jurassic Period.

You can see the original findings here, which made it an amazing place to visit. It was crowded because of the holidays, though.

There are so many species here, and you can see the original digging site. The skeletons are much larger than the ones in natural history museums in America, and it's the largest dinosaur museum in the world. Great for Dino Fans, though the education part is weak and there's not much for young kids. Avoid Chinese public holidays, when no wait is needed.

It's a bit far from Kunming's main city, but if you love dinosaurs like I do, I think it's worth the trip. The museum seems mainly geared toward kids, but I still enjoyed it and don't regret spending a day of my China trip there.
