The place was clean and comfortable, and the A/C worked really well. The internet did too, so I could take a work video call from my room. Doña Nancy also set up a fun day out for me, something I never would have managed to organize by myself.

We had a very bad experience. The owners were supposed to pick us up when we arrived, but they never came. There were no working ATMs on the island, so the woman took us to a market to exchange money because they wouldn’t accept any other payment, even a bank transfer. I lost more than €100 in that exchange. The bed was uncomfortable too, and at dinner we were served moldy parmesan. We decided to move to another place and stayed at Refugio Mr. Jerry Ecohouse. They came to collect us and were amazing in every way.

Nancy and Enrique were such great hosts. Enrique speaks fluent English, and they were quick with useful suggestions and put us in touch with local people so our stay went well. When our own lack of planning caused problems, they went above and beyond to help us out. The hotel is quite nice and cozy, with an upstairs lounge that has couches and hammocks.

The lodge is lovely, even if the city itself isn’t that impressive. The owner was super helpful, and the pizzas were amazing!
