The Meeting Point Hostel

There’s no air conditioning, so bear in mind how hot Colombia gets. The staff are really friendly and speak English, which helped me. The hostel has a lovely courtyard and adorable dogs, and it’s in a quiet, safe area.

I came for Carnaval and was so happy I picked this hostel. The owner was incredibly welcoming and had lots of helpful information about town and trips to nearby cities. There aren’t many amenities, but the place has plenty of charm. The shared area was great, and by the time I left, everyone staying there felt like friends.

The owners are helpful, and the location feels safe. There’s a beautiful backyard with a mango tree that’s perfect for relaxing under during the day. They also have a cute dog named Jlo, so be aware if you have allergies. Great hostel.

There’s a pleasant courtyard out back with a hammock, plus a kitchen and friendly cats and dogs. Just wash your hands after handling them for safety. The lobby has two couches and a PS4 with GTA V and other games, and there’s a great pizza place practically inside the hostel. Full pizzas cost $4 USD, paid in Colombian pesos cash, which is hard to beat. Staff and guests are friendly and knowledgeable. The WiFi is good, and the lockers fit valuables. You can leave your bag with clothes by your bed. For the humid season, get an air-conditioned room if you’re not used to the heat. The cooler shower water suits this ridiculously hot place, where I’d sweat so much each day my clothes felt like a second skin. At night, you can hear great Colombian music from next door. It’s about 30 minutes from the airport and 10 from the bus station, costing $10 and $3 USD respectively, or 30.000 and 9.000 COP (Colombian pesos).
