Apartamentos Facile

For a business trip or sharing with other Expats, this is a nice place to stay, and it’s much better than any other hotel we’ve tried. The staff are still as kind as ever, and the atmosphere feels more relaxed now that guests are more chill. The first floor now has a restaurant, and the building is getting a makeover with fresh paint colors and other nice additions. Ethernet internet is fast, though the WiFi is a bit harder to deal with. On samstags, the first floor can get crowded because a modeling agency has offices there, but we usually go out around then, so it hasn’t been a big issue. There’s still room for improvement.

The apartments themselves are good, with large windows, quality furnishings, and room for dogs. But water damage is constant. Water can drip from the ceiling, leaks show up in apartments and offices, and there are now visible holes in some ceilings. Problems are often painted over or patched temporarily, leaving mold and the underlying damage. Repairs get promised but often don’t happen. The building has 1 Gbit fiber, but the Wi-Fi in individual apartments is disappointingly slow, so we had to install our own access points for dependable speed. Living here has also been stressful. The Wednesday before Easter, residents were told the rent would go up 50% starting April 1, or they could move to another apartment in the same building, which wasn’t actually available. We contacted the owner while she was on vacation, and she later said we could stay. I guess that was because so many tenants had left. Staff tell us they aren’t paid on time, which feels very strange. Construction in the building keeps going, and it’s hard to sleep past 7am. The staff are approachable and kind, but service is uneven. Renovations and the slow progress on promised amenities like a gym and sauna have frustrated residents. There haven’t been enough key cards, cleaning is unreliable and often poor, and cleaners miss corners and behind doors, sometimes damage belongings, and seem stressed because there aren’t enough of them. Management’s response to a resident’s Porsche being damaged in the garage was also concerning: there was no effort to stop the person responsible and no compensation for the substantial damage. Edificio Facile is in a prime part of Bogotá, with easy access to many amenities and attractions, though not much is within walking distance. The restaurant can be pricey, with breakfast around 26,000 COP and lunch at 35,000 COP for soup, a main dish, and salad. The food is usually mediocre.

The staff are really friendly, and the rooms are nice. A great spot if you’re here for work or business.

The apartment had plenty of space and felt really comfortable. I had a great stay.
