Chapinero Hills Hostel

The staff were amazing, the place was clean and new, and the vibe was relaxed. There are light sensors, and breakfast changes every day. A local chef makes it, and he owns a restaurant around the corner where lunch is amazing and good value. The hostel is in a safe area where you can walk around freely at night. A few things could be better: the bed curtains are hard to slide, there isn't much room for bags in the six-bed dorm, and the men's toilet on the second floor has a funky smell.

It's a super nice, modern hostel, built all in wood. The bed was the coziest I've had in any hostel in South America. Breakfast was just a chicken wrap with no alternatives, though. Maybe that's fine for some people, but it's not what I expect when booking a hostel with breakfast included.

The staff, especially Alejandro, Daniel, and Tomas, were amazing and so helpful. Daniel even called the police and offered to come with me into the Ghetto to look for my phone after I found its location with my lost phone app. Such a sweet guy! The hostel felt very safe, with super comfy beds, clean rooms, privacy curtains, large lockers, and a hot shower. Breakfast was pretty decent, and there was coffee too. I only wish there were more space to chill or hang out. The Wi-Fi and Netflix weren't good, but otherwise I had a great stay. Thanks, guys!! 😘

I stayed here for about eight days and found the service robotic and unwelcoming. On my first day, the receptionist's opening question was, "Do you have a reservation?" There was no hello, and the way he asked made me feel unwelcome. A smile and a bit of personality would go a long way. When a new client walks in, staff could greet them and ask how they can help instead. After returning from Cartagena, I went to the hostel with my bags before an evening flight to see a friend who was staying there. I asked reception if I could leave my bags and was told no. My friend said the receptionist had let three Americans who weren't staying there leave their bags the day before. During my stay, many people were unhappy with the service too. Remember, your clients are what keep the business going. If you don't know how to treat them, you won't have a successful business.
