Hotel Lugano Suites

The room and location were outstanding, and the 24-hour security guard was nice. I stayed for a week recently through Airbnb. It doesn’t seem to operate as a hotel anymore. The listing mentions a spa, but I don’t think it’s running now, and I didn’t see a restaurant either.

The staff were consistently warm and keen to help, though their English was sometimes shaky. The neighborhood is very good, with excellent cafes and restaurants nearby. We found the modern, fairly minimal decor appealing, and the communal spaces were comfortable. Breakfasts were fantastic, room service was available until 10 pm, and there’s a lobby bar. Some suites have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and large terraces, which makes them comfortable for longer stays. It’s a great place to stay with friends. You get plenty of space and convenience here, so I can’t see a reason to pay three or four times as much for a room in a fancier hotel.

We arrived the day before leaving Colombia and were made to feel so welcome. Gabriel Vargas, the concierge, greeted us, helped with our bags, offered local restaurant suggestions, and showed us the dining area, where a free dinner was being served to guests that evening. He stayed friendly and helpful right up until we left. The room was spotless, spacious, and comfortable, with top-notch bathroom facilities. I’d never slept in a more comfortable bed, I felt like a princess. The free food and the food we paid for were both excellent. We had a night flight the next day, and when we asked about checking out a little later, the helpful woman at reception immediately offered us a 7 pm checkout. That made all the difference and gave us almost a whole extra day in the room. The communal areas were stylish and comfortable, and all the staff we met, including the manager, were great. I think they’d just updated the internet, and we had no trouble with it. The area was pleasant, felt safe to walk around at night, and made a good alternative to Bogota’s touristy center. Lugano Suites was a delightful stay and probably the best value hotel of our three weeks traveling around Columbia. Thank you, and hopefully we’ll see you again one day!

I stayed in an Airbnb here. The apartment was lovely and clean, in a quiet, safe area. There was always a guard on duty who had to let people in and out.
