Hotel The Grace

We could walk back from so many good restaurants, and the neighborhood felt quiet and safe. The Grace Hotel is tucked into a residential area, so it’s a great base if eating well in Bogota is the plan. The price was modest, too. It’s easy to miss the entrance: there are no big signs, just a discreet black sliding door, and the place has the feel of a fine dining restaurant. Breakfast comes up to the room. The clever room layout makes the most of a small space with low ceilings, and I liked the glass bathroom and its big shower. Some drawers and closet doors didn’t work quite right, but that didn’t affect my stay. Even the stairwell has ventilation holes. Just be ready for up to six flights with no elevator, especially at this city’s altitude.

There are plenty of good bars, cafes, and restaurants within a two-minute walk, and the area feels safe. The Grace Hotel is a great place to stay, with spacious, comfortable rooms that were impeccably clean. The staff were lovely, and a good breakfast was included. One thing to bear in mind: you need to climb stairs, so it may not work for anyone who can’t manage them. If mobility isn’t an issue, it’s an ideal place to stay.

We only stayed one night, and wished we’d booked longer. The room was tidy and clean, and the shower was amazing. It had the feel of a five-star boutique hotel. The receptionist went out of her way to find us a hairdryer, print our bus tickets, and share lots of information about the area. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, though most had closed by 6 pm on Sunday, so we had to go farther afield.

The service was great and the location fantastic, but the room could use more ventilation. Its tiny window felt odd, the shower ceiling was peeling, and it wasn’t the quietest room.
