The Pelican Larry Hostel

The clean, comfortable rooms, lively atmosphere, and friendly staff made my stay at The Pelican Larry Hostel memorable. I also appreciated the well-equipped kitchen and delicious free breakfast. Its location is great, and the fun events added to the experience. A fantastic stay, with comfort and community together. I can't wait to return, and highly recommend it.

The location is good, but I had a lot of issues with my stay. My booked room wasn't available, so I was given a bigger one, but it smelled and the hostel looked a bit rundown. There were no blankets in the room. I asked for one and got what I assume was an Avianca plane blanket, but it only covered about three quarters of my body. They then tried to charge me 5,000 for it, which I hadn't been told about beforehand. The fan speed dial was broken, so I couldn't change the speed, and the shower's hot water was inconsistent. The Wi-Fi was very weak in my single room. On my last day, I had to move back to the room I'd originally booked, and it wasn't even clean.

The whole hostel badly needed cleaning. There was dirt everywhere, hair on the bed sheets, pubic hair in the shower, floating pieces of wood in the shower, and a musty smell throughout. The toilets smelled like poo all day. The bed sheets and towels were dirty, and there wasn't even a cup in the poorly equipped kitchen. Don't get me started on breakfast. A metal curtain rail fell on my friend during the night, and the fan in our room was broken. The glass doors between the shower and toilet cubicles were baffling. Staff seemed high as a kite all the time, and slept in hammocks in the garden. We weren't told how to open the gate late at night, so we got locked out, and there were no lockers for bags. The worst hostel I've ever stayed in. Would not recommend.

The staff were really helpful and friendly, and they have an artistic essence, like they're all artists. Thanks Stephanie, Obed and Ancizar for everything. Our room was spacious, especially the one we had with two queen-size beds. The location is extraordinary. It may be a little more expensive than some other neighborhoods in Cali, but it's definitely worth it.
