Casa Carolina Luxury Wellness Hotel

I only had breakfast at the restaurant at Casa Carolina, so I can’t comment on the hotel. The setting is gorgeous, with a charming colonial look, but the food didn’t live up to it. The cassava waffles were dry, while the bread basket was decent. Overall, the meal was just okay, nowhere near what I expected. To reserve, you have to pay 100,000 COP per person in advance. I paid without hesitation because I truly thought it would be worth it. For two of us, the bill came to less than the 200,000 COP I had already paid. When we asked about the difference, they said there’d be no refund and we’d have to order more or lose the money. I’ve eaten at many places across Colombia and had never encountered that, and I’m Colombian. The place feels designed for Instagram more than for the actual experience.

We first found Casa Carolina when we stopped in the cafe for coffee. Later, after things went badly at our original hotel, I went to the front desk since it was just down the street. Within minutes someone had shown us to a very clean, comfortable room. We loved the rooftop bar, breakfasts on the terrace, and the really good coffees during our stay. We had our toddler with us, and the staff did everything they could to accommodate us. Hope we can come back soon.

We had a quick lunch on the roof, with an amazing atmosphere and what was easily the best fish we’ve had on this trip so far. Esteban was patient with our extra requests and gave us lots of attention. There’s also a coffee place on the first floor.

The courtyard view is gorgeous, and the cafe feels especially peaceful and beautiful in the morning. The drinks were nice, but service was painfully slow. We waited 20 minutes for two coffees even though the cafe wasn’t busy. I’d recommend visiting, but they really need to improve the service.
