Casa Pombo 102

The staff were great, and we felt safe and comfortable as a family, kids included. After a couple of days, it already felt like our Cartagena neighborhood, and we'd gladly return. The old walled city area around "El Centro" is right outside, with restaurants, cafes, shops, markets, and historic sights close by. Street sellers can be a bit intense, though they were friendly and not aggressive. We loved the building's architecture and the nice rooms, especially the properly cold AC. There are several small pools for a quick cool-down. Some street sounds came through, but it was less disruptive than we'd expected and generally quiet. The kitchen could use a few more things.

Please read all of this. Don't stay here, ever, because we want to keep this magical place from getting more expensive! We're planning to have our wedding here. Casa Pombo is wonderfully historic, and the staff are amazing. Breakfast is quaint, too. If you're bringing negative energy or a bad attitude, please stay away and leave it for people who truly deserve Casa Pombo.

We couldn't get a restful night's sleep because traffic and street noise were so loud, even on a Wednesday. The room also wasn't clean when we arrived, with hairs left in the shower, and it wasn't made up the day after our first night. Management did very little to help when we raised the problems. With the room's condition and the poor response, I can't recommend this hotel to travelers.

The rooms are the standout, and the service during the day was great. It's a wonderful, original historic building, with lovely spaces from the lobby up to the rooftop. Breakfast was okay, though it didn't match the hotel's quality.
