Hotel Casa San Agustin

The staff really made this place stand out, warm, helpful, and devoted to their guests. Alma is a fabulous restaurant, and Colombian fruit was an experience in itself. The hotel is beautiful, with lovely furnishings in a historic building right in the heart of the old city. One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. I loved it.

Room 203 was a lucky find, with its big terrace and private jacuzzi. The beds were wonderful, and the hotel feels grand and spacious while still having a special, unique character. In Centro, within the historic district, it’s been beautifully restored and furnished with beautiful antiques. Spectacular place.

Casa San Agustín stole my heart. It’s the only place I’ll consider when we return, though I might try the nearby sister hotel, Casa Pestagua, next time. The location made it easy to reach great restaurants and shops, and to walk to Getsemaní. I’m from Colombia and now live in the U.S. This trip was special because it was my husband’s first time in Cartagena and my birthday week, so I decided to splurge. Casa San Agustín exceeded every expectation. The scent when you walk in is unforgettable, and everyone greeted us with a smile. We got refreshing drinks on arrival, and Jeffrey was the first friendly face we met. He showed us to a room that was even more beautiful than I’d pictured. The team helped arrange fantastic outings, including a day trip to Acasí, which I highly recommend. They organized private transportation that was very affordable, especially for groups, and the private island experience with lunch was paradise. We also loved exploring the hallways, patios, and terraces, with charming corners everywhere. Breakfast each morning was perfect, with traditional dishes I’d wanted my husband to try, made just elevated enough to feel fun and memorable. The portions were just right. Water was always replenished, and the nightly turndown service came with thoughtful little treats. And the spa! I booked an evening massage at the last minute, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. I wish I remembered the names of the lovely ladies who helped me. My back felt healed afterward. Wow, I’m already dreaming of coming back.

It was so refreshing to return to a quiet, comfortable oasis after hours of seeing the city. Casa San Agustín is perfectly placed for exploring, and the details felt intentional, from the pool and lush greenery to the elegant suites. Room service was excellent, and Alma’s food was delicious. A couple of invoice changes at checkout meant we had to ask follow-up questions. And if you leave a tip, I’d choose the amount yourself, since adding it to the final bill can be significant. Still, this was a phenomenal five-star stay from start to finish, and I’d absolutely return.
