Getsemaní is a great spot, and this place is on a quiet street, so you can enjoy the nightlife and still sleep well. It’s also very affordable. But our stay didn’t match the glowing reviews that led us here. The room was tiny, the bathroom even tinier, and just one shower head worked. The sheets were clean, though the place overall seemed a little worn down. If you’re on a tight budget and only need somewhere to sleep, it could still work. Just keep expectations modest, because we couldn’t figure out the high ratings.

The rooms are simple, but the air conditioning was very welcome and the WiFi stayed strong throughout. I spent five nights here, and it had everything I needed at the start of my trip in Colombia. The owners were warm and friendly, and clearly love their city. I’d stay again if I return to Cartagena.

David and Mrs. Mati were a highlight of my trip. I stayed with them for 8 days in February 2024, travelling alone as a young woman, and they treated me with so much kindness and care, almost like their granddaughter. I felt completely at home. I also had some great conversations with David about history, and regretted not speaking better Spanish. They’re truly wonderful hosts, and I’d recommend them 100%.

The location is superb, and this family-run hotel was a lovely place to stay. The room had much-needed air conditioning, and there was a wonderful plate of fruit in the mornings. I’d book here again if I come back to Cartagena.

David went above and beyond, bringing fruit and coffee each morning and even letting me shower before my flight home. The place felt very secure, and the rooms were excellent value. It’s right in Getsemani, just around the corner from all the attractions. Everything was perfect!
