Hotel Santa Alejandria

The room and bed are nice, and the staff are helpful. You're close to everything, but the hotel isn't on a noisy street. There's no sound insulation in the walls, though that's standard here.

I felt trapped here as a woman traveling alone. After I reported bed bugs, they canceled my Expedia reservation, leaving me unable to post a review or get a refund. They gave me $200,000 COP for the trouble, which doesn't come close to covering what happened or even the cleaning needed to decontaminate my things. Both rooms had no windows and smelled musty. The first had bed bugs; the second seemed fine at first, but I came home with even more bites. The rooms were on different floors, so maybe all of them have the problem. Check the mattress protector for tiny black specks. I missed them when I looked and paid for it. The hotel is overpriced even without this.

The hotel was right in the middle of everything, and the staff treated me like a king. I stayed a week in the King Deluxe, with great security, a spotless room, and strong AC. Breakfast had plenty to eat and coffee, too. Check out the restaurant on the corner across from the Catalina monumento, a tasty full meal for 16,000!

The street-facing room opened onto the courtyard and stayed noisy with horns through the night. I wish I'd known there was no elevator, either. The place has some rustic charm, but practical things were missing: no soap, a toilet that wouldn't flush properly, and only one towel for two of us until I asked for another. The bed just had a sheet, though we eventually found a thin blanket in the cupboard.
