Hotel Summer Frente Al Mar

I expected more at first, but it turned out to be a very local hotel. There were so many rules to sign before I could even go to my room that I felt like a guilty person being given another chance.

Some restaurant, breakfast, and pool bar staff were welcoming and hardworking, and they were a real credit to the business. Reception, though, made the checkout a disgrace. I asked twice for an invoice and never got one. They also accused me of leaving a towel so dirty it couldn't be cleaned normally. That seemed ridiculous, since any dirt or stains must have come from the bathroom floor, which was already dirty. The accusation was almost comical, especially when the hotel considers a socket that falls apart and a latch hanging off to be acceptable working order. The room was in poor repair. A plug socket above the desk came out in my hand, and the door latch was partly detached. Basic maintenance was missing. When booking, I accidentally selected one person instead of two, though I had always meant to stay with my partner. I understand there is about an $8 difference between single and double occupancy for the same room. Charging an extra 120,000 COP per person per night on top of the room rate for that simple booking error was clearly unreasonable.

We paid 130 USD for one night in high season, and the place was nothing special. It's noisy because it's right next to the airport. There are plenty of other options.

The pool was nice, and there was a bed to sleep in and a place to shower. But the pool area is small and often so busy there's nowhere to sit. I saw people sitting on the floor a couple of times. The amenities were lacking: no shampoo, extra towels, or fresh bedding. Nobody answered when I called room service using the number a staff member gave me. The beach is across a major highway, so it isn't really the beach access described. Breakfast also isn't included with every room, which was frustrating since we specifically looked for hotels that included it. We did book through a third party, so that part was on us. Noise didn't bother me, but light sleepers might have a problem. The photos set expectations the place didn't meet. I guess it could work if the price came down or they got their act together.
