I’m posting this now because I’ve just learned about an insult the staff made behind our backs. I’d been trying to put the bad experience and service out of my mind, and probably wouldn’t have written this if my fiancée hadn’t told me what happened when we left. We stayed there for almost a week last December 2024. One evening we went to the rooftop restaurant, which was completely empty, and asked the first waiter for a table for two. He didn’t greet us. He said the restaurant was only for hotel guests and was really expensive. I explained that we were staying there, but he walked away and told a colleague, “mirenle la pinta a esos dos, dicen que se hospedan acá,” meaning, “look at those two, they say they’re staying here.” He and the others laughed. My Spanish isn’t great, though I can manage; my fiancée is Colombian and fluent. I gave the waiter my name and suite number, which should have confirmed we were guests. He didn’t apologize and just said we could choose any table. I picked one with a view, but it wasn’t set, and neither he nor his colleague seemed willing to set it for us. We had to choose from the tables that were ready. The only set table with a view was reserved, and the rest were under the canopy without a view. There were at least 10 tables with views that weren’t set, and none could be used. I offered to set one myself and explained that we wanted to celebrate our anniversary, but they wouldn’t budge. They offered no real service at all. We left stunned. As we were going, the staff said something behind us. I didn’t hear it, but my wife did. She only told me a few minutes ago, when we were talking about the experience. She looked worried and made me promise I wouldn’t go berserk before telling me they’d said, “Vete gringo con tu patiragada,” which she translated as, “Go away, foreigner, with your poor, pathetic wife.” Now I understand why she didn’t tell me then and there, and why she made me promise not to lose my temper. I would have gone berserk. I found this out today, which is why I’m writing. To other “Gringos with a Colombian wife, fiancée or girlfriend,” don’t set foot in this hotel or its restaurants. With restaurant staff like that, they aren’t worth your time, money, or effort. There was also a lot of cannabis or weed being used in the hotel. You could smell it, and the smell came into our room, especially on the balcony side. I complained, and luckily the security guard took it seriously. He did his best to catch the people using it and was professional about his job.

We’ve stayed here before and are just as happy with it this time!

Thanks for being so kind and welcoming to my family. We’re all happy with our stay at the best hotel in Cucuta. Everything was good, and I highly recommend it.

Everything was perfect. The pool and rooms are nice, the service is good, and the Wi-Fi works well. I liked it better than Hampton by Hilton, IBIS, and the others.

The city views are great and the place is beautiful. There are two very good restaurants, and the staff are top-notch, from the maids and front desk to the doorman and security. I love the rooms too. It’s one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in, and I’ll be back soon.
