Bio Habitat Hotel, AKEN SOUL Collection

We enjoyed our first visit so much that this was our second stay at Bio Habitat Hotel. On arrival, the front desk greeted us and had us checked in within ten minutes. Our master room was spacious, comfortable, private, and had a jacuzzi. The weather seemed to cause it to malfunction, so each time we had to call reception to have someone switch it on manually. The staff were attentive, though, and help always arrived within five minutes. People around the property greeted us warmly and regularly offered rides wherever we were headed. We liked the nightly bonfires and spent time exploring the area, spotting new plants, fruits, and interesting bugs. The views are breathtaking, with nature all around. My husband likes morning workouts, but the outdoor gym didn't work for him: the weights were often wet, and aggressive gnats bit him frequently. An indoor gym with proper equipment would be a welcome addition. We really enjoy staying at Bio Habitat and recommend it for a relaxing break and fresh air.

The Grand Master mountain suite felt magical, and the restaurant food was delicious. Breakfast was included and wonderful, too. Daniella served us for several meals, gave great recommendations, and was so sweet. Juan Carlos also waited on us and made the trip even more enjoyable. My massage was the best, and the yoga and wellness bar were the cherry on top. We had an amazing time and would recommend it to anyone!

The views were among the most spectacular we saw on our trip, and the setting is breathtaking. The massages were amazing, too. But the service was deeply disappointing for a hotel at this price. We waited about an hour in the lobby before being taken to our room, then on one morning nearly an hour and a half for breakfast. The biggest concern was my partner's severe lactose allergy. We told staff at the start of every meal, but her food arrived with cheese almost every time, sometimes even when the menu didn't list it, as with the seafood rice. That was a serious failure of care and attention. BioHabitat was the most disappointing part of our three-week trip through Colombia, despite the extraordinary surroundings. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you expect attentive service.

La Roca, the Grand Master Mountain View room, may be the most beautiful hotel room we've ever stayed in. We spent most of our time there because it had everything we needed, and the view, peaceful setting, and feeling of being right in nature were incredible. The pools were clean and amazing. Yoga was really good, and the wellness area looked great. The restaurant food was mostly very good, with an amazing vibe, great views, and music, including a DJ one evening. Some people say they play techno at breakfast, but to me it was tasteful ambient house music that fit the experience. The only small downside was the long, steep walk from the room to the restaurant and entrance. For that room, view, and peace, I was happy to make it.
