Tayrona Tented Lodge

In November we ended up absolutely covered in mosquito bites, and we couldn’t recommend the Tented Lodge. It’s right on the beach, which is the bright spot, but there are better places nearby with more amenities for a similar price. While we were there, my partner and I compared the room to a prison cell, then joked that at least prison would have a TV. It really is just the bare basics: a plain white room with two beds, no decoration, no hot water, and very little cell reception. For food or anything to do, you have to head to one of the nearby restaurants.

It’s like luxury camping, with a private shower and toilet and all the essentials. There’s no breakfast, but they work with the Los Hermanos hostel next door, where you can buy food and use the pool. Music can make weekends a little loud, so bring earbuds.

Carlos was always around with advice, supplies, or help with transportation. They sell beer, water, and snacks, and the service was awesome. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with nice bathrooms, and this feels like a romantic bungalow getaway. There’s no AC, but that seems pretty standard for beach hostels, and they provide a fan. Bring plenty of water and snacks since there’s no potable water in the room. There’s no restaurant attached, but food is only a 15 meter walk away, with lots of delicious options a short stroll along the beach. I’d say the lack of a restaurant, bar, or pool helps keep this a calm and quiet Costeno Beach getaway. Friendly, clean, and safe. Highly recommend!

The beach here is incredibly beautiful and not crowded. Even with a full hotel, it never felt packed, and it’s a great spot if you want a restful few days right by the water. The cabins are comfortable enough for a short stay, but have only a fan, no air conditioning, and no drinking water, so bring some. There’s no fridge, though the hotel rents portable coolers. Power comes from solar panels, so energy is limited. My stay included breakfast only, and the hotel serves breakfast but has no restaurant for other meals, so I went to nearby hostels a few steps away. They clean the room when you check out, not every day.
