Ecolodge Bahia del Penon

The room was amazing, better than the photos, and the view and facilities were wonderful. We loved the idea of preparing breakfast ourselves, and the location was perfect. We’ll definitely return. The place is right on the water in Peñol. They arranged wakeboarding, and we were literally picked up on the water since it’s right there. Thanks to the staff for taking such good care of us. Sometimes she drove us to town, and communication was perfect.

Bibi and Don Luís were so kind and genuine. They helped me every day with food, mototaxis, and things at the property. The staff and the views are what make this place special. My spacious studio had a hammock overlooking the lake and the Peñon, and I was in awe. The hotel offers lots of lake activities, plus wellness amenities like a sauna, Turkish bath, and jacuzzi. From my first contact with the staff to the directions to the property, the service was outstanding. I’ll be back. It’s a wonderful fit for solo travelers, couples, and small families. Such an amazing experience in Guatapé!

The lodge had parking, and since we had a car it was easy to get in and out of town. We loved the rooms, and they gave us plenty of ingredients to make breakfast ourselves. The showers also had lots of hot water, which is rare in rural Colombia!

The sauna was clean and refreshing, with a great view of the rock of guatape. It’s a great ecolodge in the middle of the forest, and I’d highly recommend it. The Wi-Fi is a bit slow, though. Since it’s a long way down a dirt road, you’ll need to arrange a rickshaw whenever you leave. The staff sorted out transport easily, so getting to and back from the town of guatape wasn’t a problem.
