Sonesta Hotel Ibague

The rooms are okay, the air conditioning is great, and the terrace bar looks just like the picture. The owners clearly put a lot of money into the place. But the staff are so incompetent that the whole hotel is a disaster, and all that investment is sadly wasted.

The room itself was decent, but it smelled strongly of mold and mildew. At 7:45 AM, loud construction started with power drills and hammering. I understand remodeling, but they shouldn't rent rooms next to the work. It was frustrating that I couldn't get a refund and switch hotels. I booked through Orbitz, so cancelling or getting money back was complicated. At this price, I definitely don't recommend staying here. I regret it.

After eight days here, we're so grateful for the quality of service. Thanks again to all the staff, you were amazing. One thought: a little imagination could make the main lobby entrance a much happier space.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, but that's the minimum I'd expect from a hotel calling itself five stars. We came to Sonesta Hotel Ibagué for an emotional family gathering and wanted comfort and peace. The welcome was friendly, though insurance was added to our bill at check-in without asking us. We had to request that it be removed, and charges like that should be confirmed with guests first. The pool was a letdown. The water was murky, the windows were too dirty to see outside, and there was mold and mildew throughout the area. The lifeguard stayed on his phone the whole time instead of paying attention, which was especially concerning with children there. His manner was arrogant and unprofessional. We expected much more from our stay.
