Hotel Fernando Real

A clean, welcoming place that works well for families.

For the price, the hotel is comfortable and fair enough. But the cockroach problem gets pretty annoying. I know we're in the Amazon, though the hotel has a pest control certificate, so they need to do more about it. Internet is awful, as it is across Leticia, and they should look into satellite service.

The hotel is modest and reasonably priced, in a great spot where you can walk to everything. The staff were attentive and very friendly, and even kept our bags for two days while we went on an excursion. They have Wi-Fi, but it was almost useless for me: painfully slow, about ten minutes for a basic webpage, and it only reaches the rooms beside or above reception, the family rooms. They also don't take cards, only cash, which they should change soon. We stayed in two rooms of the same type. The first was quite nice, with a comfortable large bed, air conditioning, a fridge, and a TV, though the bathroom could use an update. The second was a disaster. The AC worked but leaked nonstop and flooded the room. The beds felt like sleeping on the floor, and the TV image was distorted.

The hotel is centrally located and includes a decent continental breakfast in the room price. Service was good. Payment is cash only, in Colombian pesos. Some rooms have AC, others just fans, and Wi-Fi is available.
