Palmayacu was just the quiet break I needed after running a long retreat in Costa Rica. I came to Colombia to rest in the Amazon and stayed at this small commune about a 20-minute taxi ride from the city. There are six guest bungalows and a shared area where breakfast is served. The showers are cold, but there is running water and a toilet. There's no internet, so bring a book or borrow one from the common area. I read a book by one of the commune's residents from cover to cover in a day. My first night, a storm rolled in while I read in the hammock, happily swaying inside my bungalow.
