The metro is close by, and the area feels safe. I also recommend chum burger and mad radio bar while you’re around. The place has a great vibe, with plenty of travelers up for chatting and making friends. Staff are super friendly and helpful with advice, and there are free towels and soap, hot showers, comfy beds, and new appliances.

The hostel has a laid-back social feel, mostly thanks to the shared spaces, which can get lively at night, especially on weekends. My room was clean and comfortable, and the shared toilets and showers were clean too, though there’s no shampoo. The lockers are small, enough for a laptop and documents. Laundry service was good, but cash only, which was inconvenient. It’s in a quiet corner of the neighborhood. If you’re going out dancing, the busy part of Provenza is a 20-minute walk away. I enjoyed my stay, though I’d probably choose somewhere closer to Provenza next time. The claims in some reviews that this is the best place are a bit hyped.

I spent 18 nights at The Black Sheep and found it a great balance of social and peaceful. It’s easy to meet people at the communal table, or find a quiet spot on one of the terraces. My private ensuite room was modern, peaceful, and really comfortable, the best I’ve stayed in. The staff were welcoming and very helpful, and the price was excellent value. It’s a short walk to the Metro or Provenza, too. I’d stay here again if I came to Medellin.

The staff, from the cleaners to reception, were fantastic and did everything they could to make me feel welcome. I ended up staying a week instead of the 2-3 nights I’d planned because it was so easy to get comfortable there. Leaving was a bit sad, and I hope I can come back one day. Thanks again to everyone. Before leaving the UK, I’d looked up this hostel, and it seemed far ahead of the competition in Medellin. It’s decorated with great taste and was impressively clean. It feels more like a boutique hotel, and I understand the owner Kelvin had been a backpacker himself and designed it with that perspective. The district is lovely, the location worked perfectly for me, and I had no personal safety concerns.

This was my second stay, and I’d happily recommend the hostel. The facilities are great, the wifi is stable, and you can work online without booking a private room. Most of the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the shared table gives everyone a place to connect. The vibe is great. My one complaint is a woman who usually works evening reception. She seemed unhelpful and uninterested in interacting with people. She makes everyone wait a long time while opening or closing the gate, and rolls her eyes if you ring the bell more than once.
