Hotel Dorado La 70

This was a depressing, noisy, badly managed hotel that took away from my holiday. Management seemed not to care, as if the place ran on autopilot; staff looked embarrassed but unable to fix things. I found the lobby crowded and loud, like a shopping mall mixed with a railway station, with vendors everywhere. My first room was dark, had no window, and was too noisy to sleep in. Not every room has a safe, which added stress. The breakfast was a joke: stale bread, no real buffet, and a choice between scrambled or boiled eggs like a school canteen. Even the gym equipment barely worked. It was the worst hotel stay I've had, with no value for money. There are much calmer and more professional places in Medellín.

A really nice hotel, and I recommend it. Just know the air conditioning gets freezing if you don't like it cold.

We spent four nights here and would happily come back. The property was clean and well maintained, the rooms were lovely, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Santiago moved us to the rooms we preferred at check-in and was great throughout the trip. It also felt safe, with security at the front door. We had front-facing balcony rooms and enjoyed watching the nightlife below. The clubs across the street play loud music until 3am, though, so light sleepers may prefer a room at the back.

The room was roomy, the bed comfortable, and the shower great. Ask for one at the back: we could still hear noise, but it wasn't bad enough to stop us sleeping. Breakfast was crowded and just okay, so we ate out instead. There are loads of fabulous restaurants nearby. We'll come again!
