I chose not to extend my stay in Room 1014, even though I'd planned to book it for multiple months during the year. That decision came down solely to Gladys's behavior and the way she handled communication. I'm writing this so future guests know what dealing with this host may be like. The apartment itself wasn't the issue, and neither were prices, discounts, or rules. Hosts can set their policies. My concern was Gladys's poor communication and lack of professionalism when I asked simple questions. My messages were polite and aimed at finding a solution, but she repeatedly answered in a condescending, dismissive, and defensive way. I asked whether a temporary guest could be added while I was away to help look after the apartment, and made clear I'd pay any required fees, including for my dog. She didn't explain the next steps or offer a clear solution. Instead, the situation escalated and every question became a problem. Earlier, when I asked about extending my stay, Gladys bluntly told me to stay in another room. Later I said I would stay another month. Her exact reply was, “You said you weren’t going to book another month.” I had never said that. I'd only expressed uncertainty earlier, which is normal on a longer stay. That exchange captured the disrespectful tone I experienced throughout.

We paid for four days, but after just one night in this terrible place we moved to a better hotel. There was no Wi-Fi, and although we tried for 28 hours to reach JALO, we got only voicemails and never spoke with anyone. They didn't seem to care. I'm filing for a full refund through Booking.com. We'd paid for free breakfast too, but had to argue with the kitchen staff and show our confirmation to prove it was included. The breakfast was terrible. The bathroom shower was broken. Stay away!

For the price, about 200.000 Colombian pesos to 300 thousand and a half Colombian pesos a night, this is very affordable. I highly recommend booking with Jalo rent. The service is outstanding, and the studio has everything needed, including air conditioning. It's a small apartment, 28 mts, more like a hotel room but bigger and nicer, with a little kitchen. The bedroom is spacious, with a big, beautiful bed, plus wifi, a TV, and a small desk and chair. They leave two bottles of water and a tasty coffee brand to make in the coffeemaker. This apartment-hotel gives you some of the benefits of Airbnb apartments. It's in Poblado Medellín near Aguacatala and Eafit, in surroundings that are very safe and clean.

The building, amenities, security staff, and on-site market are good, but the host experience overwhelms those positives. In Room 1014, Gladys was dismissive and condescending, turning basic questions into problems without trying to help or suggest solutions. If respectful, professional communication matters to you, avoid this room.
