Hostal Pura Vida La 70

We had an amazing stay. The hostel is in a great Medellin neighborhood, close to nightlife but also good for a quiet visit. It was really clean, and the receptionists were exceptionally nice and always willing to help. We needed to print something, which they couldn't do there, but the receptionist printed it at home for us. We'd absolutely come back!

The beds were comfortable and we slept well. Rooms were an okay size and the bathroom was pretty good. It's about a five minute walk to the metro, with lots of nearby shops and restaurants, so getting around, picking up groceries, and finding meals was easy. We walked out for dinner at night and the area felt safe. There's a little shop in the hostel for odds and ends, and we had our washing done there. They did a good job and folded everything. Laundry cost 20000 cop regardless of how much we gave them. I'd recommend this hostel, 9/10.

The kitchen is outdated, which the owner knows about and plans to upgrade. The Wi-Fi cuts in and out, and the rooms don't have much ventilation, so they can get stuffy. Still, the rooms are spacious and clean, the rate is affordable, and everything you need is nearby. What made the stay special was the genuine care and attention from Genesis, Angelica & Mary, along with the other lovely, patient, accommodating staff and guests who went above and beyond. That kind of magic is priceless. I'll be back. Thank you.

The private rooms have what you need and the hostel is great value, but the Wi-Fi can be weird. Sometimes it has full bars and runs fast, then it drops out. I was on the third floor, where people liked to hang out and talk in the common area, so it got loud at night. The other floors might be quieter, though I'm not sure. Laundry service is available on site. The kitchen was very basic and small, with little cooking equipment for anyone who wants to cook.
