Hotel 23

The hotel looks nice and is in a great spot, just one block from Provenza. We booked a block of rooms for our wedding weekend, which fell on Valentine’s Day, but there was no welcome gift or special note. Other hotels usually make some kind of gesture for an occasion like that. Our room was extremely small. With a suitcase and carry-on each, two adults could barely move around, so pack light. During the stay, a wedding guest accidentally knocked something over, and reception kept pressing us to pay for it. I would have thought the hotel had insurance for that sort of thing. Checkout felt uncomfortable. Around 9:30 a.m., while we were loading our luggage into the rental car before going upstairs for breakfast, a front desk employee ran down the ramp after us. Once he saw we weren't leaving, he followed us to the restaurant, asked for our room number, then asked if staff could go check the room. Checkout wasn't until 11, and it felt like we were being hurried along. The experience wasn't what we expected, and we won't consider staying here again.

The location is the main thing going for this place. The rooms are tiny, the mattress was very uncomfortable, and there's no food room service. Breakfast is included at a restaurant next door, but the same four choices are offered every day. I'd rather pay for meals as I go than pay ahead for such a limited menu. It isn't a terrible option, but for the price there are much better places with a real hotel star rating. This one has no stars.

I felt safe and at ease here the whole time, even traveling on my own. It's calm and comfortable. The staff were genuinely kind, friendly, and quick to help, and the place was spotless, attractive, and thoughtfully designed. Breakfast was good and the service stayed consistent. My stay made the trip better, and I'll definitely come back. Highly recommend.

The breakfast was a bright spot: the selection was great, the woman helping us was lovely, and the chef who made eggs in the morning was great too. The exterior looked cool, but inside the hotel felt short on authenticity. We were near the bars and restaurants, though being on a main road made the location feel a bit disconnected. We told them when booking that it was our honeymoon, but they didn't acknowledge it, while the other hotels we booked had made an effort. The room was somewhat small. The lights and curtains could only be controlled with a hotel phone, and it was really not user-friendly. It had just 1% battery when we checked in, and its charging port didn't work. One night, after dinner at about 10 p.m., the receptionist knocked twice to get us to sign a document we'd already signed at check-in. It was annoying and felt unprofessional. I probably wouldn't stay again or recommend the place.
