Hotel Golden Palermo

The neighborhood seemed nice and quiet, and the hotel itself was clean. My boyfriend stayed for a week and found most of the staff pleasant. The price was amazing, and the area and cleanliness were good. Still, we won't book here again. I had reserved two rooms for him and his friend, technically for two people each, but they tried to charge extra when a family member was in his room for almost 10 minutes. They say they charge for a guest staying more than 20 minutes, which seems ridiculous. Then at about 4 a.m., a staff member sat by the stairs near the room, almost as if he were listening in. That made their stay very uncomfortable. Most of the staff were nice, but a few people working there were weird.

Room 506 had a lot of noise, and the wall between our room and the next wasn't solid. We could see into the other room, and hear every word when the guy there spoke on the phone. Light sleepers will need earplugs. Breakfast was okay, with different food choices, and most staff were friendly, though one receptionist could have been friendlier. We stayed four nights.

The neighborhood felt safe, and the hotel is well located, with comfortable rooms and nice staff. There are important bus routes nearby, which helps since the closest metro station is far away. The restaurant is serviceable, though certainly not great.

The views were superb, and breakfast went beyond the usual continental fare. I took an impromptu four-day trip, and the staff made the stay friendly and accommodating. They were very professional, housekeeping handled my extra requests, and the rooms exceeded my expectations. I'd recommend it if you find your way to Medellin.
