Hotel Med Estadio

The rooms were clean, and the hotel had an elevator, air conditioning, hot water, and little outside noise. The beds and pillows were super hard, though, so I couldn’t give it five stars.

The rooms were clean and had nice tile, and breakfast was good, though not great. Staff didn’t speak English but were generally helpful. Traffic noise became noticeable in the morning because the windows wouldn’t close properly. The location wasn’t the best for me. It’s near the stadium if you’re looking to experience South American football, but I’d suggest staying closer to Lleras Park.

I’ve visited Medellin almost every year for 16 years, and Hotel Med Estadio is my favorite place to stay right now, especially for the price. The neighborhood is much quieter than downtown, where I usually stayed. Downtown around Parque Botero and Parque Berrio is supposedly more dangerous now, though I’m oblivious to that. There’s an Exito nearby, and the Metro station is across the Stadium. The hotel is also a block from the Stadium, where I go running in circles alongside inline skaters. You’ll find outdoor aerobics classes and soccer games there too. The hotel has what a foreign tourist needs: plenty of hot water, air conditioning, breakfast, modern new construction, and a small table and chair in the room. I expect I’ll stay at Hotel Med Estadio again on my next trip to Colombia.

The rooms are small, clean, and cool. They need to get bigger, better towels, and the trash bins should be washed because they smell terrible.
