Terra Biohotel

Breakfasts were huge and came with hardly any wait, and the laundry service was quick. We also found the area safe and walkable, with a great location. There was no hot water the night we arrived, but it was fixed by the next morning and stayed working for the rest of our visit. We could hear a little street noise even from the ninth floor, though that’s about what you’d expect from a city center hotel.

We chose this place because it’s accessible for people with disabilities, but we won’t be coming back. We usually stay at another hotel that’s much nicer. The staff here were just okay, nothing special. We arrived at 4, and by 8:05 we’d finally got extra blankets. We had also asked someone to check the TV, which didn’t work, and bring blankets. There were no cups in the room; someone brought two with the blankets, then realized the TV remote was missing and went to look for one. The TV had no channels anyway. There was also a leak, with water around the restaurant area. The food at the restaurant was horrible this time. We’d eaten there about a month ago and liked it, which is why we returned for one night. Now the eggs Benedict was hard-boiled eggs, the cob salad was awful and barely edible, and the red velvet cake was the best thing. The food was horrible overall. I’ll never stay here again.

This felt more like a 2-star hotel than a 4-star one. The location was the main reason I didn’t leave sooner. Right from the start, they charged me the wrong amount for the room, and things only got worse. The reception staff need proper training or should be fired; their customer service was terrible and they seemed incompetent. There was no glass or kettle in the room to make a drink, and the room didn’t come with a hair dryer. When I asked reception to bring one so I could dry my hair before going out, they said guests have to come downstairs and request it in person. Ridiculous. Daily cleaning was the one good thing, though that’s the bare minimum, and after this experience I wouldn’t have been surprised if they didn’t offer it. They advertise as a bio hotel, but the only supposedly bio feature is hot water from solar panels. All the plants on the building and in the rooms were dead. Sad.

It seemed like a nice hotel at first, with a good price and location. The worn-looking floors didn’t bother me much, but I was surprised at the cleanliness. Colombian people are very clean and seem like perfectionists about it, so the dirty shower really stood out. There was dirt, grime, and mildew in the grout, and it didn’t look like the shower was cleaned regularly. I’m very particular about bathrooms and sheets because they must be clean, especially since they could pose a health risk. If the bathroom had been cleaned, I’d have given this 4 or 5 stars.
