Punta Diamante Premium Hotel

The spa is amazing and there’s a really good choice of food, though you can’t charge meals to your room like you can at most quality hotels. The place has a great location, nice infrastructure, and good views. But the customer service was poor. We had to call several times to get things like an ironing board, water, towels, and other items. The most upsetting part was being charged $50,000 pesos for a “Chipped” room key. It had already been given to me with a chipped corner, but they made such a fuss that I felt like a thug. The rooms are showing their age too. The shower door leaked badly, and the blackout curtain had holes and didn’t reach all the way to the bottom.

The spa was a 10/10 experience, and the hotel service was great. The rooms are huge. I’d suggest driving your own car, though, since getting Uber drivers permission to come to the hotel was difficult.

Be very careful. My wife and I stayed one night, and most of it was enjoyable until checkout. They said we had to pay 150,000 pesos for new sheets because of a small red spot from a rose petal. They had scattered petals around our room, and one or two ended up on the mattress and got sat on. I didn’t want trouble in another country, so I paid the ridiculous amount, but I made them bring me the sheet. It had two small stains that were blue by then. Once I got home and washed it, the stains came right out. They hadn’t even tried to clean it. It felt like they saw a gringo and tried to get every penny they could. Absolutely the worst kind of business model. Travelers, beware!

The breakfast buffet was superb. First class all the way.
