Namaste Beach Club & Hotel

The grounds are beautiful, and there are plenty of thoughtfully designed spots to sit, read, or let go of the city's frantic pace. I really admire the calm, restoration-focused experience Namaste is trying to create. Yoga is now at 11 a.m. only, not 8 a.m.; meditation is at 3 p.m., and the fire ceremony is at 6:30 p.m. The staff were attentive throughout, from the boat transfer and restaurant teams to housekeeping, pool care, and even sweeping leaves. John/Juan deserves a special mention for being so warm and welcoming. He made people with all levels of experience feel comfortable joining in as much or as little as they wanted. Some Spanish helps you take part more fully, though the staff do their best to accommodate if you don't speak it. A couple of things took adjusting to: there isn't hot water, so late afternoon showers are warmer than morning ones, and toilet paper goes in a bin rather than being flushed. That's common in Cartagena, though signs for visitors unfamiliar with it might help. For food, choices felt limited if you avoid shellfish and want healthy options. I tried to order chicken on both days and it wasn't available either time. Beach music can also be louder than ideal if you're hoping to read, nap, or unwind, which feels a little at odds with the relaxing atmosphere. Namaste is between two busy beaches, and jet skis often come uncomfortably close to swimmers. They're distracting and felt like a safety concern. Even with those drawbacks, I found it charming, distinctive, and rewarding if you're looking for a different kind of destination.
