Apartahotel Bahía Tropical 1

What made the difference for us was how the staff handled a serious problem. We first stayed at Bahia Tropical 2, but had to leave because of a bug infestation. At 10 at night, they came within five minutes of our message, apologized politely without making excuses, and took us by golf cart to a bigger room at Bahia Tropical 3. They didn't charge extra, even when we extended our stay. That was a great gesture, and why this is still a five-star review. The room was spacious and had a good air conditioner, plus hot water, which feels like the height of luxury on this island. There's a kitchen, though we didn't use it. Since the water in San Andres isn't potable, I'd suggest drinking bottled water even if you screw up Mother Nature. Free coffee at the entrance was a nice touch. They asked if we wanted the room cleaned, and changed the towels every couple of days or whenever we asked. It's not cheap, but I don't think you'll find anything decent in San Andres for less. I have nothing bad to say about the place.

For one night it was okay, though I think a longer stay could get tiring. The room was small but just big enough to relax in, and breakfast wasn't included. The windows looked onto the street, so the view wasn't anything special despite the central location. When we arrived, a boy was filling in for the receptionist, perhaps his mum. We couldn't really negotiate the room price, even though there were no other guests at the time.

The WiFi was very unstable, but the staff get five stars from me because they were always ready to help. The rooms were clean, spacious, and had comfy large beds, hot water, and a private kitchen. There's daily cleaning service, and the place is perfectly located.

The location is the best part, close to the central beach and shops. The WiFi was poor and the bed too hard. The air conditioner worked very well, but it blew cold air straight at my face because of where it was positioned.
