Jackson House Inn

The service was good.

I chose this place after reading reviews and would stay here again. It’s cozy, though definitely not luxurious, which was fine for me since I spent more time out on the island and in the sea than at the hotel. The owner let me use the kitchen, and I made breakfast once, but mostly I wanted to try the local food. Leave your key behind and they’ll clean the room. I tried one room without a bathroom and another with one. I’d pick the private bathroom: the staff are clean, but other guests may not be, and sharing wasn’t pleasant. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the beach. I didn’t mind, since there were so many interesting shops to look at along the way.

The service was excellent, and the hostel is close to everything in San Andres, tucked behind the police station. Check-in is at 3 PM. When you leave and walk toward the station, follow the bend in the road to a restaurant with a very good, affordable breakfast.

The hallways were constantly cluttered, with things scattered about and barely enough room to pass. The hotel is centrally located, but I can’t recommend it. Our room was beside the laundry, and the noise made it hard to rest, even around 2 a.m. when clothes were being washed. The sheets and pillows were stained and in poor shape; one pillow had holes. Some items were rusty too, which felt unhygienic.
